The SketchKiddo Story
From a father's desire for less screen time to a platform inspiring offline creativity.
A Father's Mission
Hi, I'm a software engineer, but more importantly, I'm a dad to two wonderful kids, Noah and Joah. Like many parents today, I found myself constantly battling the glow of screens. I wanted them to experience the beautiful, vibrant world around them, to build, draw, and let their imaginations run wild, away from digital distractions.
The Spark of an Idea
One afternoon, watching them captivated by a tablet, I realized something had to change. As an engineer, I spend my days building digital experiences, but I wanted to build something that brought them back to the physical world. I wanted them to feel the texture of paper, the joy of coloring outside the lines, and the pride of solving a puzzle with a real pencil in hand.
The Power of Personalization
I also noticed something else: their engagement skyrocketed when the activities felt truly theirs. A generic coloring page is fun, but a puzzle featuring "Noah's Space Adventure" or a math sheet with "Joah's Magic Kingdom" completely captured their attention. Seeing their own names printed on the page made them feel special and far more interested in learning.
Building SketchKiddo
That's how SketchKiddo was born. It started as a personal project to combine the magic of personalization with the joy of physical play. I wanted to give parents like me a magic tool: a way to instantly generate high-quality, fun, and educational materials tailored to their kids' unique interests.
Join the Movement
Today, SketchKiddo is more than just a tool; it's a movement towards mindful parenting in the digital age. Let's turn screen time into creative, off-screen learning together.
